Ebbw Vale lies at the top of the A4046 close to its junction with the A465 Heads of The Valleys Road, which is at present being dualled along its length. Abergavenny and the A40 lie about 9 miles to the east allowing easy access onto the M4 at Newport and the M50. Cardiff lies around 30 miles to the south and there is a good rail service from the Parkway station of about one hour. The town has a population of around 19,000 and is in the middle of a £350m town centre "works" development with new office, schools, college and housing and a central railway station. On the outskirts of the town is the Festival Park Outlet Village with retailers including Marks & Spencer, Nike, Clarks and Gap. Brynmawr lies upon the northern edge of Ebbw Vale with Barleyfield way accessing a major industrial estate lying adjacent to an ASDA Superstore. There is easy access onto the A465 Heads of The Valleys Road via the A467.
